**I'm actually at 17 weeks, but I could not get Blogger to cooperate with me last week to format this post, so I got frustrated and quit trying.
How Far Along: 16 Weeks
Size of the Baby: According to the "What to Expect" app, our baby is the size of a turnip this week (5 inches, 5 ounces). However, the "Sprout" app says she is 4 inches and 4 ounces (a lemon). Our ultrasound indicated she is 6 ounces, so I'm leaning more towards turnip.
Total weight gain: I lost a pound between 12 and 16 weeks, likely due to the fact that my appetite stopped being like that of a teenage boy. So, my total weight gain is about 2 lbs., although is surely feels like more. I'm definitely losing muscle tone, though, and muscle weighs more than fat, I've been told.
Maternity clothes: I'm wearing looser dresses and a few maternity dresses that I have bought from Target, simply because it's not that big of a difference and they were really cute, although not totally necessary. I haven't worn them yet, but I've also bought a pair of maternity white jeans and shorts. Really, I'm sticking to dresses right now.
Gender: It's a girl! And we're 99% sure of her name :-)
Movement: I still haven't felt any that I can completely pinpoint as baby and not something else, but it's possible that's what it has been.
Sleep: I get up once or twice during the night to go to the bathroom, but other than that, I sleep soundly. I'm still on my back mostly, but have noticed that if I stay too long on my back, I wake up with "dead arms"
What I miss: Sub/Club sandwiches with cold deli meat. And I'm still missing a nice, refreshing Blue Moon, especially since it's so good in the summertime.
Cravings: Besides the Blue Moon and cold deli meat that I can't have, nothing.
Other crazy symptoms: I still have indigestion if I don't take Prilosec. My skin has improved...knock on wood!...as has my appetite (I'm not nearly as hungry all the time). I have the occasional backache, headache, and nosebleed, but nothing major. I'm considering myself very lucky to have missed the sickness bug this time around.
Baby's milestones: From "Sprout": The uterus is continuing to expand, as are the baby's lunhgs to draw in amniotic fluid and prepare them for breathing. From "What to Expect": Baby G's body fat is beginning to form, and she's starting to listen to noises. Her eyes have finished their migration and are beginning to make small side to side movements through eyelids that are still sealed shut.
Best moment this week: Finding out that Baby G is a Baby Girl, and she has two arms and two legs and appears to be developing nicely.
Up next: My next appointment at 20 weeks is for the anomaly scan which checks all of her organs and body parts.
