Thought provoking

I saw this on a sign at a church in my neighborhood:
Is God your steering wheel or your spare tire?
Chew on that....

Such is life

For reasons I am not at liberty to discuss on my blog, our administrative assistant resigned today. I will say it was a "forced resignation." So, guess what that means. No more ice chomping for one, but it also means more work for everyone in the office.

We have a busy, busy fall coming up with events, and we will hire to replace him, but it's a process, so for a while we won't have anyone. It also means that when we get someone they will have to be totally trained. As many of you know, this can take up a large chunk of time and energy, as well. So, basically, we're floating alone either without an administrative assistant or with an unexperienced one for most of the Fall- our craziest time of year.

We will all have to pick up the slack- which means, I'm probably going to be a little more out of the loop on commenting, posting, etc. Boo hoo :-(

Let the fun begin! Did you sense my eye-roll?

Personality Traits unveiled

Mrs. Potts over at Experiments in a Galley Kitchen tagged me for the Premium Meme award. This award requires that I list 7 traits about myself and then pass along the award to 7 other bloggers who deserve recognition for the personality they share through their blog.

If you don't know Mrs. Potts, go on over to her blog and get acquainted. She's oh so sweet and down to earth, and you'll love reading what she has to say! Quit wasting time, get on over there! (After you finish reading this post, that is)

Here's the award:

Don't ask me what that picture is of- I can't tell either!

My 7 traits in no particular order are:

1. Organized- I think we have already discussed this. I have often been dubbed the Organizational Nazi (I apologize if that offends anyone). I live my life from a list, and if I don't have a list, well then I'll just forget. Ask my friend whose birthday was Saturday- I totally didn't call, and guess why? NO LIST! (Yes, I have profusely apologized to her for being a horrible friend who forgot to call- I did not forget it was her birthday, just remembered while I was in the middle of something!)

2. Dependable- If you count on me to do something, you can rest easy knowing it will get done. I absolutely hate when people don't follow through when they say they are going to do something. Therefore, I make it a point to do what I say. If I don't think I can do it, then I won't tell you I can.

3. Jealous- Yes, there, I said it. I'm the jealous type. I don't think this needs much of an explanation. It's not a good trait to have, but I might as well be honest!

4. Friendly- I always try to be friendly to those I meet. I try to make conversation and really connect with people. However, some people are a lost cause because they are either A) unfriendly in return or B) annoying as all get-out. Many of you remember my rant after a particular weekend when I had to deal with the mother of all annoying people....I just can't be friendly to her anymore!

5. Caring- I really care about people and I always make sure I let them know it. Even when I don't have time for myself, I am doing things for those I care about. Case in point- 3 weddings, 3 bachelorette parties, multiple showers all in one summer and all because I really care about the 3 girls who are getting (or have gotten) married.

6. Hot headed- Because nobody can have all good traits (ok, jealousy is not a good trait, I know). And let me clarify. I try to be calm, level-headed, but that goes straight out the window when I get behind the wheel of a car. I have road rage like you wouldn't believe!! My temper flares at bad drivers, I tend to throw out the occasional dirty word, I use my horn. In short, do not get in my way when I am driving.

7. Quirky- But, aren't we all? I think everyone has some peculiarities that can only be described as quirky. I can't divulge all my secret quirks, but just know- I have them!!

Now for the 7 loooovely ladies I will be passing this along to:

DAR at Just Another Day in Paradise (Yay to her for finishing the Bar!!)

Sparkle Sparkle! (another lovely blogger who just took the Bar)

Lindsey at Sweet Simplicity (such a cute blog she has- check it out!)

MG at Magnolias and Mimosas (She just moved to a new place and has lots of adventures)

Megan at Tales of the Trees (One of the most honest, refreshing bloggers!)

Sole Matters (another Southern girl with a great blog)

Jenny at Practically Perfect (she's moving to New Zealand before long- my jealousy kicks in)

Weekend wrap-up plus a plea for your help!!

Another weekend comes and goes, and it's back to Monday again. Anybody else want to help me petition the government to approve 4 day work weeks and 3 day weekends? I feel like I'd be just as productive in 4 days of working as I would be in 5!

But anyway...I digress. This weekend I helped throw one last shower for my friend Carolyn before the 2 weddings I have in August. I have next weekend free and then bring on the weddings! The shower was a success and Caro got a lot of good stuff. I didn't take pictures because my friend Holly had her "family cam" and had all that covered :-)

On Saturday night we went over to Carolyn's and her fiance, Chris's new house and hang out with everyone. Then yesterday WEG and I went out on the lake and rode around. I'm trying to get rid of bathing suit strap marks because my dress for Bess's wedding is strapless! AND, I am peeling. NO BUENO.

So, that was my weekend. Now, I must ask you for some help, dear readers. WEG's birthday is coming up on August 22nd. I have weddings 2 weekends prior to that, so I have to find something to get him, preferably this weekend!! He has said that he doesn't want anything, but I can't just give him a card and not get him anything! I am going to take him to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Mr. Friendly's (win, win!). He has agreed to that, and then I'd like to get him something else small, but meaningful. He is the type of person that goes out and buys whatever he wants whenever he gets the whim that he wants it. So, it's hard to buy for him!! I just bought him some new clothes, and he honestly has plenty.

I'd love to get him a few small items to open, but I am seriously drawing a blank. Have any of you had really creative ideas for your husbands, fiances, brothers, boyfriends, etc.?
A little background- WEG is a huge outdoorsman. He loves to fish (all types- offshore, inshore, on the lake) and he hunts anything that moves. (Unfortunately, he has all the gear he needs for that sort of thing). He's also a big Clemson fan- ugh.

Any ideas that you have are welcome & appreciated!!

Prissy Southern Prep

Can you send me an invite to your blog?
usc_emily@hotmail.com- thanks!!!

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)

Jenny over at Lucky in Love tagged me to "Show My Heart." This is really neat and I appreciate the tag! By the way, the title is from an e.e. cummings poem- hence, no capital letters!

The rules: "With as much creativity as you can muster, show your heart in: a picture, a poem, a song (or piece of music), a phrase (or quote), an item of clothing, a place, and (just for fun) a Disney princess. If you want to join in, tag six more blogs."

1) For the picture, I just can't narrow it down. My family is my heart, my friends are my heart, and WEG is my heart. So, 4 pictures for you that show my heart.

My mom and dad.

My cousins: Kimberly, me, Carrie, Lora, and Sarah

My friends: Me, Julie, Carolyn, and Holly- the Fab Four

My love: WEG

2) The poem one is hard! But I'd have to say it's Footprints in the Sand. I just love that poem.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.

Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life,

when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,

I could see only one set of footprints,

so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.

But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life

there has only been one set of footprints in the sand.

Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints,

my child, is when I carried you.”

3) The song that has my heart is Small Town by John Cougar Mellencamp. It's my ringtone on my phone and I feel like it's a classic that really takes me back to my hometown in rural South Carolina. Y'all have all heard me talk about how much I love it and it's where a piece of my heart will always remain.

Just a snippet: Educated in a small town. Taught to fear Jesus in a small town. Used to daydream in that small town. Another boring romantic that's me. Well I've seen it all in a small town. Had myself a ball in a small town. ....... Well I cannot forget where it is that I come from. I cannot forget the people who love me. Yeah I can be myself here in this small town. And people let me be just what I want to be........ Well I was born in a small town, and I can breathe in a small town. Gonna die in a small town, that's probably where they'll bury me.

4) A quote is hard to narrow down- I have a few I like, but I am going to go with a Bible verse for this one.

Love is patient; love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast; it is not proud. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. And now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13

5) I am not one to hang onto clothing for sentimental value, so this one is quite difficult for me. I would have to say that not one single piece of clothing sticks out as something that has my heart! However, though not an item of clothing, I have a blanket that I have had since I was little. I call it my snuggie and I sometimes still sleep with it if I am home alone- it's comforting (Yes, I just admitted to sleeping with a blanket- gasp!)

6) Place- of course, y'all all know what is coming. The place that has my heart is none other than:

7) Disney Princess that has my heart. It has to be Snow White. She has always been my favorite, for no particular reason. I just love those little dwarfs (shouldn't this be dwarves?)!

So you can see, my heart belongs to my family, my friends, my WEG, my roots, and my Lord.

And now I would like to tag 6 lovely ladies to play this game- I apologize if you have already done this one.

LuLu- Life with LuLu and Pete

Gracie Beth at Preppy Southern Princess

I've got the itch...

And by that I mean every single night when I get in the bed. I think it's something about laying there very still that makes my arm itch, my back itch, my leg itch. It's a chain reaction once one thing starts itching. And it's not my sheets- it's not an irritated kind of itch. More like a tickle. I know I drive WEG crazy because I'm itching like a mad woman instead of laying there quietly while he's trying to fall asleep. I even annoy myself with it! Sometimes I will try to not scratch the itch, but that NEVER works out. I think it even may make it worse.
Anybody else have the itch?

I'm all ears!

Okay guys- I need your help.
I have 192 followers, but generally only get an average of about 10 comments per post.
Clearly I am not writing about things that interest you!
So, help me out- what do you want to hear about?
I obviously don't have a cute baby to post pictures of like MckMama and I'm not as witty as Mrs. Newlywed- so what would you like me to write about?
I tried the 'ask me questions" post once, but only got about 6 or so questions so that didn't work out so well for me!
I'm all ears!

Bess's Bachelorette Weekend Re-Cap

This past weekend's bachelorette party for Bess was a complete success. We all got along very well and there was no drama, which sometimes happens when you get that many girls together.

Seriously, it was so much fun.

On Friday we got to Charleston and Kerry and I went grocery shopping at the Super Bi-Lo (DEFINITELY need one of those in Columbia!). We got to the house, unloaded everything and Kerry took Bess with her to get the pizza so I could set up some things that were surprises. Bess thought that she had to get out of the house because I was setting up stuff with male anatomical parts everywhere and was quite nervous when she walked back into the house. However, that's not my style, nor is it hers, so we nixed that. Instead, I was setting up the cupcakes and favor basket, as well as a basket for the bride, complete with a beach towel in her wedding colors, a photo album from the Market in Charleston for pictures from the weekend, a t-shirt that said Bride-to-Be, button to wear on Sat. night, koozie I had made for everyone, and a ring pop. Oh, and if you ever have a chance to get cupcakes from Bi-Lo- GET THE CHOCOLATE WHIP ICING! It's like chocolate cool whip and soooo good.

Moving on. We had pizza and salad for dinner, ate cupcakes and mint chip ice cream (the bride's favorite) for dessert, and then asked her some questions that her fiance had already answered. For every one she missed, she had to take a jello shot. She only missed three, and one wasn't really fair! So, she did well!! After that, we did her lingerie shower, and she got some really good stuff- nothing raunchy cause that's not her style. Then, we played circle of death (it's a card game) until about 2:30 that morning.

On Saturday, we got up, had breakfast, and headed to the beach by 10:00. The weather was beautiful, and we stayed at the beach til 3:00, then headed back to the condo to get ready for the evening. A van picked us all up later and carried us downtown to A.W. Shucks, where the hostess pissed me off with her rude attitude, but everything else went well. The food was delicious, but I think we all had a bit too much sun and didn't have our biggest appetites. However, if you're in Charleston, you should definitely try A.W. Shucks' shrimp and grits...yummy!

After A.W. Shucks we headed to the Pavilion Hotel's rooftop bar. What a pretty place and a great view of the Cooper River Bridge (well, I guess it's the Arthur Ravenel Bridge, technically, but it will forever be the CRB in my mind). We hung out there a bit and then ventured over to Market Street Saloon, which was QUITE the switch from the Pavilion bar. The cover was $5 at the door, but instead of $45, the girls at the door let us in for $20 total- SCORE! MSS is a great place to take a bachelorette party because they have all the brides to be get up on the bar to do things at different times. Bess had to get up there and do the stanky leg across the bar (good thing it wasn't me because I would have been CLUELESS!) and then they made her do a blow job shot to top it off. We stayed at MSS the rest of the evening until the van picked us up to go home.

On Sunday we got up, cleaned up the condo (EVERYONE HELPED!!), and went back downtown to eat lunch on King Street and shop around a bit there and in the Market before heading home.

So as you can see, it was great! And if you've made it this far, you deserve a prize. But, without further ado, pictures!! (BTW, I don't have a picture of the whole group- other people have that on their cameras)

Baffled....

Does anybody know what happened to Katie Lake over at A Southern Girl in the City? Did I miss something? I had like 18 updates in my reader, but all were from some guy named Roger about car insurance..... it's so weird!
Has anybody else gotten this, too? Did she change her web address without me knowing?
This Roger fellow is quite annoying....I don't really care about his posts on car insurance, I just want Katie Lake back! Any information you have would be GREATLY appreciated.

I am swamped at work right now, so I hope to have a post up about the bachelorette party soon!

**ETA: If you can't get rid of the Roger character, here is what I did. If Katie Lake was originally on your follow list and not one you added via Reader in th Add subscription place, then you can get rid of Roger and add Katie. What you have to do is go into blogger in your dashboard where it shows the blogs you follow. Click Manage. Then when you go to the list, you should find her under "oh, I just love it" but at this point, you're still seeing posts from Roger under this web address. I had to go to the settings and click quit following. This removed it from my reader, as well. Then I had to go back to her blog and click follow again. Now I no longer have A Southern Girl in the City on my reader, and am not receiving Roger's posts.
Does this make sense??

Friday, July 17

And I'm on my way again!

I'm heading out of town again this weekend!

This time, it's for my friend Bess's bachelorette party. I hope everything goes well since I am the MoH and the party planner for this one.

We're heading to Charleston this afternoon, and I am praying for sun tomorrow so that we can lay out on the beach at Folly. Right now it's a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms for the entire weekend, but I plan on doing a sun dance for good vibes.

I promise I'll take more pictures than I usually do....but only because I'm going to put them in a Charleston themed album for Bess so that she can remember the weekend. Otherwise, I'd probably be a slack ass, as usual.

Y'all have a good weekend!

Hot for Teacher

Angela's post about being a cougar triggered my memory of something weird that happened last night when WEG and I went out to dinner. Two people came in and were seated at the table next to us. I thought nothing of it, assuming that it was a mother and her teenage son. That's what the age difference looked like to me. The boy was definitely a teenager, as I heard the woman keep mentioning his senior year. She, on the other hand, looked like his mother. She had on a conservative skirt and cardigan and a "mom" haircut. She ordered a glass of wine, he had water. And then it got weird. I glanced over and they were not exactly holding hands across the table, but it was sort of the equivalent of playing footsie, except with their hands. I looked at WEG and said "What's going on over there? Do you find that weird?" Apparently he thought that it was a mother and her son, as well.

It continued to be weird, with them playing with each other's hands, all the while her talking about his senior year of high school and fraternity parties she had been to while in college. To say I am baffled by this encounter is an understatement. I didn't hear a whole lot of their conversation, but I know for certain that she wasn't his mother. And, she didn't have any sort of wedding ring on or anything, so she wasn't married. Maybe she just has a thing for younger guys? All I could think of was Mary Kay Letourneau- perhaps, this was his teacher and something developed? I definitely do not know, but all sorts of scenarios have been running through my head- mostly scandalous.

I am both disturbed and intrigued (yes, I can be quite nosey sometimes!). What do you think was going on?

Home, Sweet Home

The American South

Today's post is dedicated to all things Southern. You'll find some quotes and song lyrics that I think really sum up what it means to be from the American South. I can't imagine my life if I had been born anywhere else. You don't get much more Southern than among the cotton fields where I grew up, in a place that has changed little over the span of time. Neighbors are still friendly in the South, especially the rural areas. We talk a little slower, laugh a little harder, and love a little deeper, I think, but yes, I'm biased. Some days I wish I was still that little girl riding the tractor on my daddy's lap or running barefoot through the cornfield, and the following quotes and images always take me back to those days.

Growing up southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born- it's an idea, a state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, high school football, and country music. It's being hospitable, being devoted to front porches and sweet tea, and each other. We don't become Southern, we're born that way. -Unknown

We learned in Sunday School, who made the sun shine through. I know who made the moonshine, too, back where I come from. Back where I come from, where I'll be when it's said and done. I'm proud as anyone, that's where I come from. -Kenny Chesney

Honey, just because I talk slow, doesn't mean I'm stupid. -Sweet Home Alabama (the movie)

Painting by Jim Harrison.

The South is the only place in the world where nothing has to be explained to me. -Woodrow Wilson

Oh I wish I were in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten. Look away, look away, look away, Dixieland.
Painting by Jim Harrison.

What can be more Southern than to obsess about being Southern? -Elizabeth Arroyo

In the South, the breeze blows softer...neighbors are friendlier, nosier, and more talkative. (By contrast with the Yankee, the Southerner never uses one word when ten or twenty will do)...This is a different place. Our way of thinking is different, as are our ways of seeing, laughing, singing, eating, meeting and parting. Our walk is different, as the old song goes, our talk and our names. Nothing about us is quite the same as in the country to the north and west. What we carry in our memories is different too, and that may explain everything else.
-Charles Kuralt

Song, song of the South. Sweet potato pie, and I shut my mouth. Gone, gone with the wind. Ain't nobody lookin' back again. -Song of the South, by Alabama

Y'all come back now, y'hear?

Happy birthday, Abester!

Tomorrow our little bundle of joy turns a year old! Yes, that's right, our sweet, crazy Abe is having a birthday! Crazy is the key word...Abe's antics are limitless. And little definitely is no longer a term we can use to describe Abe.

Exhibit one: WEG's family has a creekhouse down in Yonges Island, SC where he stays when he goes home for the weekend. Well, not too long ago, WEG's father was watching Abe while WEG was fishing. Sweet little (er, big) Abe runs over next door to where the neighbors are building a new home. He proceeds to run up their stairs, in the open door into the house, and knocks over a bucket of paint on their brand new hardwoods. Luckily, the neighbor was really nice about it and brought him back. He said "I don't want to be the annoying neighbor, but could you please make sure your dog doesn't come into our house any more? He knocked over a bucket of paint" Oh goodness, Abe you are a character, and clearly you know no strangers- heck you just make yourself at home whereever you go.

Exhibit two: This past weekend WEG and his friend took their two dogs out to Botany Bay near Edisto Island. They let the dogs run all over the island like madmen while they met up with another friend and his girlfriend. Well, apparently the girl was sitting on her towel on the beach, minding her own business and guess what Abe does. He runs right up to her, hikes his leg, and pees on her. Yes, he peed on her. Again, luckily she was cool about it and laughed it off and went and got in the water to wash off. Abe, in addition to knowing no strangers, you also have impeccable manners.

However, despite all of his craziness and trouble with his listening skills, we still love Abe very much and just keep hoping that he'll grow out of this puppy stage into a well-behaved dog. Right now, he's a bit like Marley from the book, Marley and Me. Just a big, lovable, goofy dog.
So, Happy Birthday, Abe! We love you and wouldn't trade you for the world :-)

Enjoy the journey of Abe's first year:

Just not feelin' it

I may take some heat from you hardcore Gamecock football fans (my friends included) about this post, but I've gotta put it out there.

I've read recent posts how some of you are excited about the upcoming college football season. I've seen the countdowns on facebook. I know it's coming soon- in the blink of an eye it will be here. However, I am just.not.feeling.it. Call me disillusioned and you'd probably be right. Oh sure, I'll go to a few games to tailgate and watch many, many games on TV. And I may get excited about the actual fact that there are games on all the time. But I'm not excited about my Gamecocks. I'm over Steve Spurrier, and I am sick of reading the paper every day, only to find that YET ANOTHER of our football players has been arrested. And then, when Spurrier keeps them on the team, it makes my discontent with our football program that much worse.

We're the laughing stock of the state- ask any Clemson fan. We are ALWAYS in the paper for bad behavior or stupidity on the part of our players, and then they face little to no repercussions. It makes me WANT to see them fail. Yes, I said it. I want to see those thugs fail. Until actions are punished appropriately, I am taking it out on the whole team, not just the individuals commiting the crimes.

I want some new life in our football program. I'm tired of has-beens. And say what you want, Spurrier is a has-been. Holtz was a has-been. I want someone young, someone fresh, someone a-la-Darrin Horn (that's our basketball coach, if you didn't already know). I want someone who is a disciplinarian, who doesn't take any crap. You screw up, you're gone, that simple- Spurrier should take a page from Ray Tanner's book (that's our baseball coach). Tanner doesn't put up with shit. He believes guys make mistakes, but he doesn't reward them for it or turn a blind eye. He removes them from the team- just.that.simple. Nobody should be above the law and the rules, especially not thuggish football players.

So, there you have it. I'm fed up. I don't care if I go to a game this year at this point. In fact, I might not. I enjoy the tailgating and will go for that when the mood strikes me, but I'm not wasting my hard-earned money on a ticket to see a bunch of thugs take the field after they've been out getting wasted on Thursday night in Five Points. And yes, this happens- I've seen it with my own eyes. In fact, it's so bad that one bar has a shot named after a football player that is a frequent customer in that bar. Really?!? Is that the image we wish to portray? I guess so since the behavior is being condoned.

Well, Gamecock Football and Coach Spurrier, you're this.close to losing a fan permanently. I'm a Gamecock to the core, but I'll just pull for the other sports. My money and my time are not going to a program that is corrupt.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Catching up!

Wow, it's been almost a week since I have blogged- clearly I have been busy!

Unfortunately I have no pictures from the weekend as I did not take my camera out one single time- I know, I know- TYPICAL!

Friday night we went to dinner with friends and had sushi then went out for a few drinks. Nothing too crazy because Saturday we got up and drove to Fripp Island for the day and night. We had lunch with WEG's family and I went out to the beach for a bit while WEG helped his dad do some things around the beach house. Then we rode around on the golf cart, ate some supper, and watched the fireworks display that Fripp puts on. Pretty low-key, but relaxing!

On Sunday morning we drove over to Edisto to go out on the boat with WEG's sister and her boyfriend and another friend. We drove over to Botany Bay and anchored down and spent the afternoon out there. It was overcast at first, but eventually the sun came out. On Sunday evening we went over to another beach house at Edisto that belongs to one of WEG's friends and just hung out and went to a bar for a bit. Clearly I consumed a little too much because I didn't feel so hot on Monday, when I helped WEG get the pontoon ready to haul back to Columbia.

After doing that, we went and saw his brother's wife and their little girl for a bit- she is ADORABLE and was fascinated with my toenail polish (which is NEON- which I didn't quite realize when I bought it!) Then we went over and saw WEG's parents before making the trek back to Columbia.

Now I'm gearing up for this weekend. I'm heading to Conway for one of my best friend's little boy's 2 year old birthday party. The theme is "Breakfast on the Farm" and it's on Saturday morning. I'm heading down on Friday morning to help get everything ready and keep Joy sane! I got Sawyer the cutest little frog rainboots and a frog raincoat for his present. My boss's grandson, who is just slightly older than Sawyer, loves his and wants to wear them all the time. I hope these are as big a hit!

Well, that's all I have for now. If you made it this far through my long re-cap, congratulations!

America, America, God shed His grace on thee....

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend (hopefully a long one!) celebrating Independence Day and our freedom. I truly believe we live in the greatest country in the world, and that is because of men who fought so long ago in the Revolutionary War. We are where we are today because of the great document, the Declaration of Independence, that was signed in 1776. Just a little sidenote- did y'all know that most of the signers of the Declaration actually signed it on August 2nd, and not July 4th. July 4th is the date on the document, though, so that is why we celebrate on this particular day. Wikipedia also tells me that Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both died on July 4th, 1826- the 50th anniversary of America. Weird coincidence, huh?

In any case, however you celebrate this holiday, I hope you enjoy it. I'd love to hear your traditions. My family doesn't have any set traditions. My dad's side does have a family reunion on a local lake, but I haven't been to that in many years, and this year is no exception.

WEG and I are heading down to Fripp Island on Saturday morning because he has to work on Friday and the traffic that afternoon would be unbearable. So, we'll go down there on Saturday and spend the day and night with his family, then head over to Edisto Island on Sunday morning to spend the day there and see some of his friends, go out on the pontoon, etc. And then we'll come back on Monday because we both have the day off.

I'm so excited for this four day weekend! It will be the first time I've been out of town to enjoy a weekend that didn't have to do with a wedding. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed all of those trips, but this one will be more low-key and a chance to relax with WEG since we don't have a lot of opportunities to do that this summer.

So have a happy and safe 4th of July and I'll be back in action on Tuesday!
