Trunks
I'm not talking about those things that are unique to elephants. Or chests that hold treasures. Or even the things with branches and leaves, although what I'm referring to is quite similar. I'm talking about my legs! They're trunks, y'all. Linebacker legs, thunder thighs, man calves. I've got 'em, and I don't know how to lose 'em! WEG and I have been running regularly for the past month and a half or so, and while my legs are definitely firmer, they're no smaller. I need to lose some circumference. I can't stand looking in the mirror and feeling completely out of proportion. But, I have no clue what to do. Do any of you fitness buffs have good exercises for smaller legs? Whenever I lose weight, it never seems to be off the legs, so I'm at a loss for how to change this. You would think that having a solid foundation would make me less clumsy, but that's not the case either. These trunks just get in the way, and I'm sick of them!

Have to say, I was in the middle of a sneeze when I read this and once I saw 'legs', I choked a bit and it went away (totally random, I know) but it took me by surprise.
ReplyDeleteBut I have cankles and don't have any way to get rid of them. My dr said I'll have fat ankles as I age (great, thanks) but all I can think of is continuing working out and toning it all up. The muscles will eventually draw out while the meat around the thighs, calves and ankles continue to go down. btw, my thighs/hips are the first thing to grow when I stop working out, =/ so I feel your frustration.
As the old saying goes..."honey you are just big boned." And I say that from experience, not that you yourself are big boned. Thanks to my dad, I inherited man-calves as I like to call them. I can't wear riding boots because of them. I almost had a break down in Belk about six months ago because I could not find boots to fit my huge calves. Shoes are always suppose to fit...the same size every time.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think there is a way to shrink your calves...mine just keep getting bigger and all my athletics did not help. As for my thunder thighs, nothing a little stair climber action and laying off the french fries won't cure. Yet as I do that...my calves just keep getting bigger.
Long comment...leads to a perpetual circle!
Ugh! I feel your pain!! I have cankles and big calves, and my legs resemble tree trunks as well. :) All the women on my mom's side of the family have the same issue. When I was younger I thought I had escaped the curse, but as I've gotten older, my legs have gotten thicker. I don't know if there is any hope for me, but I will keep checking back to see if you get any helpful suggestions.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that works for me is bicycling!
ReplyDeleteCheer up! All you need is a little push and motivation on gym session.
ReplyDeleteJust keep on exercising and keep your goal in mind. Sooner or later, you're going to have those toned legs you always want to have.
