Today I went in to my local dry cleaners to pick up a coat that I was having cleaned for my grandmother. The coat had a fur collar and needed to be removed in order to be cleaned and then sewn back on, and my grandmother didn't have a dry cleaner in her little town that she trusted enough to do this. Last week I took the coat in and earlier in the week checked back and it was not ready. So I decided I would go in today to get it. I had gone home for lunch and debated whether I would stop by on my way back in to work or on my way home from work later in the day. I opted to stop right then and walked in, they got the coat for me and I was all set to pay when the owner came from the back.
He told me that today was my lucky day which completely surprised me because I had no idea what he was talking about. Then he proceeded to tell me that I was the 60th customer in there this week to pick up clothing and at the first of the week they had decided that the 60th customer would receive a random act of kindness- aka free dry cleaning. He then went on to say that they didn't ask that I do anything except pass along the random act of kindness to someone else because in this economy in which things are so bleak, if everyone did a random act of kindness for someone else it would make things seem better and improve people's outlooks. (or something to this effect- I'm not quoting word for word because I was generally shocked!)
Well, let me tell you- I will definitely pass along this random act of kindness to someone else. And as WEG said when I told him, karma always comes back around so apparently I have been doing something right!
Anybody else had a random act of kindness bestowed upon them lately? I'd love to hear!
Just a few of the ladies going on the trip: Julie, me, Holly, Shanna.
Full sun. Steam coming off the pavement- ick! I needed my sunglasses when I came out it was so bright. Who can figure that out?
