I swear I make a list for everything. At work, I usually have multiple lists going- of course I am able to keep up with each list! Whenever I go on a trip, I make a packing list and also a list for things I need to accomplish before we leave for said trip. WEG laughs at me for this, but I generally don't forget anything (except the time we went to Fripp for Valentine's Day and I remembered the Wii and the Wii Fit and the games, but managed to forget the remotes! Everybody has a brain lapse now and again).
Currently, I have lists which include:
- Packing list for Charleston this weekend
- Things to accomplish during the week prior to the trip
- Things to accomplish this week at work
- List of things to go into work packets
- Gifts I have to buy in the upcoming months
- Things to do for a bachelorette party in June
- Things to do for a bachelorette party in July
- Things to do for a shower in July
- List of upcoming purchases I have to make (I have to budget!!)
See, there you go- another list of all my lists.
Some people might say I am obsessive, but I generally get things done and don't leave out important things I need to do or items I need to bring. That's my rationale, anyway.
Perhaps because of my extreme organization, I am already packed for this weekend's trip out of town. I did it yesterday for the most part. Except for items that I will have to pack on Friday morning, everything is in its proper bag and sitting on G-waiting for O. My lists were quite handy, by the way, and I won't be scrambling around on Thursday evening or Friday morning worrying if I am forgetting something.
So ladies, I ask you- are you this organized or do you find my organization a bit obsessive? It's okay, tell me the truth- I can handle it!
i try to be organized... i enjoy making lists. i feel accomplished when i can cross things off!
ReplyDeletei don't think you are obsessive by making lists of your lists. if it helps you handle your day to day, week to week- go for it!
At work, I literally have a "master list" of all the different work lists I keep. I'm absolutely that way!
ReplyDeleteI think if it works for you then that's what you should do. I'm a list maker too, so maybe that's why I don't see it as obessive...
ReplyDeleteI love lists. I almost never forget anything as long as I follow one. I normally have a few going at one time, as well.
ReplyDeleteI make post its and have a planner during the school year and the boy makes fun of me because my desk is always covered in post its as well as my laptop and he also laughs about some of the things I write down in my planner. I do not believe you can be too organized.
ReplyDeleteI'm a planner and a big list maker so I think you are just being organized!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge planner but if that's what works for you make as many lists as you need! =]
ReplyDeleteI think your organization is a gift! I so wish I was that organized!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was organized like that. The only time I write anything down is when a. I am bored and don't have anything else to do or b. I know I will forget it if I don't write it down. I am jealous of your ability to do that!
ReplyDeleteI'm super organized and make lists for everything...but I definitely pack the night before. I hate it and put it off as long as possible. But I do include a list on my "things to be packed" entitled "things to do" which includes setting the dvr, turning off my alarm, stopping the paper, stuff like that :)
ReplyDeleteOh, friend, we can be list soulmates. I have lists upon lists upon lists of lists. I'm also a huge huge fan of color coordination and highlighters. Sometimes I add really easy things to my list just so I can have something to check off immediately.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way! I always make a bunch of lists and definitely like to pack way in advance.
ReplyDeleteI am the same exact way!! I make lists for EVERYTHING. My husband laughs and me and says don't for get to write "make list for tomorrow" on your list! He swears I just like to check things off. :)
ReplyDeleteI do the SAME things!! My husband jokes me and says that I have lists of lists to make!!!
ReplyDeleteIt keeps me sane...or crazy... whatever - it makes me feel better!!! :)
I am a list-maker, too! There is a powerful feeling of crossing things off when they get completed :)
ReplyDeleteYou have me beat...I only have two lists so far this week: A general to do list for my classes and a to do list for post planning this week!! What is really bad is when I have "Make a list for so and so" on one of my other lists!!!
ReplyDeleteiam the same way! I make list for EVERYTHING!
ReplyDeleteI am a list maker too!
ReplyDeletePlus I have lots of reminders because I am forgetful.
I'm a list person too - it helps me clear my head. I keep a notepad in my night table and make lists before I go to bed so I don't wake up in the middle of the night thinking of things I have to do!
ReplyDeleteAlso....I'm going to Charleston this weekend as well! I am so excited!
Can you get me organized?? I'm jealous of super organized people, I suffer from ADHD really badly and don't take meds anymore so I live in a world of organized chaos but I'm learning to cope, haha. Hope you have fun on your upcoming trip :)
ReplyDeletenot obsessive- you are just organized! honey- lists are how we don't totally fall apart and turn into a bald umbrella car attacking britney spears! you give yourself control and power over your life by writing it all down!
ReplyDeletekHm
I love lists. They are my favorite thing in the whole world. And even better ... lists of lists! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I were that organized!
ReplyDeleteOh, honey, you are so not alone! I have notebooks for my lists - one for work and one for non-work, plus let's not forget my master to-do on my Blackberry. I don't feel like I have things under control until it's listed out. I even make lists of what I'm going to wear each week:)
ReplyDeleteOh I am the same way! I have lists for my lists! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am a list gal too!!! My favorite forgotten item was for our last float trip. I swear I packed the entire house into my little car and then when we were ready to sleep that first night we didn't have pillows. Yep and it was chilly so we slept with our head on a tree root. Have a great trip!!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I am all about lists too! I do not think you are over the top at all. Just come to my apartment and watch me pack and you will see we are one in the same!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing! I'm a project manager at work and have a post it list of daily tasks for each of my projects. I do much the same thing at home. I figure if I have lists, I don't have to remember every last thing. I've written it on my list!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you and I are quite a bit alike!
ReplyDeleteI hopped over here from BlueEyedBride and I love your blog!
