Ipod help, please!

I finally broke down and asked for an Ipod for Christmas from WEG so I could use it when I run...and yes, I have been running which is an accomplishment in and of itself.

I'm on Week 5 of the Couch to 5k program, and so far, it's going great. I think I'll be ready to run the St. Patrick's Day 5k here in Columbia- I sure hope so since I am sending in my registration fee today!

Anyway, back to the Ipod. I have absolutely no music on any computers that I use. I'm just not a music junkie and pretty much listen to only my radio in my car and my XM on occasion. We did have an old mp3 player laying around the house that had some tunes on it, so I transferred those to my Ipod and they have been getting me through. But, I need more, and I need to know what is good running material. Really, that's about all I'm using the Ipod for at the moment.

What do y'all consider your best songs to run/workout to? Is there a whole album I just have to have? One of my friends told me Kings of Leon, so I've got that on my must-have list. I'm really not picky as far as music is concerned- just no Miley Cyrus, please!

Thank y'all!

  1. You can do a search on the iTunes store for running and it will bring up some great running mixes for you - and I think Blue-Eyed Bride did a post in Nov or Dec with some great names of songs too! I want to start running this year too! Good luck!

  2. Download Brittney Spears song "3". It's the only song I like from her and it really gets me going!

  3. You can download the song "Wanna Be A Bloody Balla" by DJ Aridiculous free off his website (just search for "Aridiculous"). That one helped me kick it into high gear at the gym yesterday.

Here are some I have on my Workout list:
    "Gimme Some Lovin'" Steve Winwood/Traffic
    "Heart of a Champion" Nelly
    "Gimme More" Britney Spears
    "Throw It On Me" Timbaland
    "Canned Heat" Jamiroquai
    "Just Dance" Lady Gaga
    "Sandstorm" Darude
    "Shake It" Metro Station
    "Bombs Over Baghdad" Outkast
    "Cry for You" September

    Those are just some thoughts...

  4. The first thing that comes to mind for me is Black Eyed Peas...if you're into them. And definitely look into Kings of Leon!

  5. I love KOL but sometimes I get my best workouts when I listen to rap or angry metal type music while I work out.
