You stink. Actually, you suck, but I was trying to be ladylike. Specifically, your customer service stinks. If I can help it, I will never give you another dime of money nor do business with you if there's any way to avoid it.
Sincerely,
Ticked off in South Carolina
Any others of you out there hate David's Bridal? I swore before I started looking for bridesmaid dresses that I would not choose something from David's Bridal. I was even reluctant to look at their website. But, then I decided to just pop in a store, and I found the perfect style and shade of dress. I took 3 of my bridesmaids back to the store and had them each try the dress on, and it flattered all 3, which was great! But, it took an hour just to get a dressing room to try on 3 different dresses. It was ridiculous, but I sucked it up. I gave them all of the information for my bridesmaids and my information and we went on our merry way. Nobody ordered that day- THANK GOODNESS.
Last week, I ventured over to the store to get a swatch to show the cake person and florist, and the sales associate was unable to find me in the computer. She tried a few times and then just went ahead and rang me up for the swatches. When I asked if she needed more information from me since she couldn't find me, she assured me everything was good to go. I asked again, saying her face showed otherwise, and, again, she insisted that there was no problem and things were good to go. So I left.
Fast forward to Saturday. One of my bridesmaids was at David's Bridal to get a dress for another wedding she is in, and thought she would go ahead and order the dress for my wedding. Guess what- they couldn't find me in the computer. Shocker, right? After about 30 minutes and 3 people searching under every possible thing, she finally got in touch with me. I was LIVID. I explained the whole situation to the manager and, miraculously, they found my paperwork, which had never been entered in the computer. A month and a half later, and the paperwork is still just sitting there. This made me so mad, especially since the situation could have been remedied when I was in there and the girl assured me everything was okay. Basically, she lied to my face.
So, they finally got me straight and got me entered in the computer, but then they would not let my bridesmaid try on the dress, claiming she'd have to wait 30-45 minutes until they entered the information from her first dress. Ridiculous. So she left, and I am so glad she didn't end up getting the dress because I am not going to do business with them unless I absolutely have to.
Now, I'm on the hunt for another bridesmaid dress that I like that isn't astronomical in price. There are plenty that I love, especially LulaKate, but I am just not going to ask my bridesmaids to pay $300 for a dress. I need something comparable to the dress at David's Bridal. My criteria are dark purple, flattering on all body types (i.e. NO STRAPLESS!), short, and less than $175. Any suggestions?
Hate, hate, hate that store. Worst customer service, ever. I'm so glad I didn't give them any money!!
ReplyDeleteWe got our b-maids dresses at the same boutique I got my dress. They were only $125 and adorable. I would check out a smaller specialty store--the service was great and it was not NEARLY as expensive as I feared. I got a designer gown with handmade lace flown in from Spain for maybe $300 more than what I would have paid at DB.
OMG I will never give them my business again, either! Don't feel like going into details but I agree 100% about their crappy customer service!
ReplyDeleteTry J.Crew for your bridesmaids dresses..they're not too bridesmaid-y and you can find some under $200.
Have you tried Magnolias in greenville? They are really helpful and reasonable. My sister used them for her bridesmaids dresses and they matched her prices. Jcrew is good choice too. Hope this helped! :)
ReplyDeleteI would look on the Alfred Angelo's website. They have good variety at a good price and are carried a lot of places.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a wedding in a few weeks. We got our dresses from the Bridal House of Charleston. They are made by Bari Jay and were $175.
ReplyDeleteI LOATHE David's Bridal!!! I have NEVER had a good experience with them!
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible! I've always heard horror stories about DB. I agree that J.Crew is a good place to look - not sure if they have your color though.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds terrible! I agree that your best bet is to visit some of the smaller area stores, and ask around. There are all sorts of fly-by-night internet businesses, but those make me nervous! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIf it was the one on Harbison they are HORRIBLE. I bought my dress at Bella Vista, but our bridesmaids got their dresses through J Crew. We just had regular sundresses in navy so they could really wear them again.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of David's Bridal either. Their dresses are made cheap anyway. My MOH tried on 2 there and both had broken zippers and snags in the material. I was very unimpressed. My girls' dresses were made by After Six and were around $150.
ReplyDeleteHATE David's Bridal. Ugh. You're better off not going with them, so consider knowing that in advance a blessing. Check out J. Crew's bridal collection. You can view most of it online, but I had the best experience in store. Not all locations carry the bridal wear; however, I know the store in Charleston does. You will most likely have to make an appointment, but that will prevent you and your friends from having to wait forever for service. When you're there, you're the only customer they are seeing and therefore the priority (as you should be). Also, this is totally random, but Target.com carries bridesmaids dresses as well-who knew?! Good luck!!! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.alfredangelo.com Wonderful selection & great prices!
ReplyDeleteI ordered my dresses from a designer on etsy and she has been wonderful so far. My girls haven't gotten their dresses yet but I feel good about everything. Check her blog at independentdesigner.blogspot.com to see her dresses on a bunch of body types. I was really iffy till I saw how it looked on lots of people.
ReplyDeleteThis is my dress:

She has several colors including this eggplant color

I chose a cotton for my dresses but she has other colors as well. If you like Lula Kate I was recently introduced to this company in columbia (so I'm sure you probably already know about it) but I have no clue how much the dresses cost.

Hope that helps :)
Have you tried Ann Taylor Wedding Collection? I got all my bmaid dresses on clearance for $99!! The quality is excellent and they are classic! I agree on David's:their quality stinks (and so do their employees)
ReplyDeleteYikes! I bought a bridesmaid dress there on Sunday- I hope it works out. I'm dredding getting my ($400)dress for my other friend: (http://www.newyorkdress.com/Jovani/159838.html?Search=159838)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you had this experience! That is so frustrating. Have you tried JCrew? I think they have some purple ones (I love purple too) but I am not sure about the price. Nordstrom is another idea.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when you need your dresses by, but Poinsett Bride in Greenville offers beautiful dresses at great price points and their staff offers the best service! Turn around for orders is typically 12 weeks. There is also LaRoque in Columbia for custom made dresses.
