Prayers, please

I have stuggled since yesterday with whether or not to post this, but I am a firm believer in the power of prayer, and the more people that are praying, the better.

Yesterday, my best friend since childhood went to the doctor for an ultrasound to find out if her baby was a boy or a girl. Instead, she found out that the ultrasound revealed multiple abnormalities. They said they would set up an appointment for her to go to MUSC, the best hospital in SC, to have more tests to determine if these abnormalities are fatal to the baby.

And then, they sent her home. As of this morning, she still did not know when her appointment at MUSC was going to be. So, since yesterday morning, she has been sitting and wondering and not knowing if the baby she has carried for 4 and a half months will even live.

I am beyond angry at the way her situation has been handled because I feel she should have been sent IMMEDIATELY to MUSC to get more answers. Instead she is playing a waiting game, all the time knowing that the news may very well be devastating.

So, if y'all could, please say a prayer for my friend and her husband and their 3 yr. old son to give them strength to make it through this, whatever the results may hold. And please pray that she gets an appointment sooner rather than later so she can at least end this horrific waiting game. I really appreciate it!

  1. I understand where you are coming from.
My sister is 6 months pregnant and she found out that there is something with her baby as well. She can't cry or anything though because she has 3 young sons of which the oldest is 6 and the other two are 4 and 2. The doctors have stated that it is something with the baby's heart.

  3. That is so hard. I cannot believe they would make her wait like that. That's so cruel! I hope everything turns out to be ok.

  5. Oh that is so sad :-( I'm so sorry about the way that this was handled - some people in the medical profession just don't get it. It's not out-of-the-ordinary for them to see something like that, so think it's just routine. Praying for her and her family!

  6. As a nurse, I can ASSURE you that there is no pleasure is giving bad news or making people wait for anything. I cannot imagine under any circumstances where the illness or death of a child becomes routine. I have to commend the people who are brave enough to shoulder the burden of diagnosing and treating infants who are in jeopardy. Many tears are shed and sleep is lost over the worry for patients and how unfair things seem to be.
I hope your friend receives the best news in the timeliest manner. I hope the same for the women who had their appointments today, and the countless ones that will come behind her.
